How To Make Money With A Website
They say that “if someone tells you it’s impossible, they are talking about their own limitations, not yours”.
And although I have no doubt about it today, I remember as if it were yesterday how discouraged I felt when everyone I told about my plans of launching my website and become a blogger and live as a full-time digital nomad.told me that it was almost impossible make money online in latin america.

P.S.: today, those friends and family members who once discouraged me, ask me for advice on online entrepreneurship and make money from home.
But let’s see, Carla…
Does creating a website really make that much money?
This is one of the questions I get asked the most by those who are curious, to know why I gave up a very good job, to to create a web page and dedicate myself to travel and make money online.
Yes, create a website and become a professional blogger can make you money, A LOT of money.
And what many see as “too good to be true”, is an opportunity that is available to anyone who wants to take it, but that 99% of Latin Americans are missing out on.

7 ways to make money online with a website.
Ideas for work remotely and earn money online that I share with you below, apply regardless of the subject you deal with on your website.
It doesn’t matter if you are an accountant, doctor, travel blogger, photographer, food lover or housewife; you can apply each and every way to make money to your website.
1. Affiliate marketing
Possibly the easiest and fastest way to earn money on the internet.
The idea is to look for quality products that you like and that at the same time are aligned to the theme of your website, and then join their affiliate program.
Brands or authorized platforms will give you links with an affiliate number, for you to promote the products / services with your readers and followers. Once someone uses your links to make a purchase, you get a commission for referring them.
There are thousands of programs you can join and most of them are completely free. Usually, the only requirement to be accepted is to have a blog or web page related to the topic of the product or service you would like to promote.
For example: a travel blog can affiliate with booking.com and a fashion, cooking, sports (or virtually any other subject matter) website can apply to Amazon’s affiliate program and start promoting their items, clothing or travel accessories, among the thousands of other products Amazon has to choose from.
2. Earn money with Google Adsense
This is one of the most used monetization models by most to. passively earn moneyespecially when they are blogs or websites that deal with popular topics, such as news or entertainment, or that have the ability to publish content with the capacity to go viral.
This way of monetizing pays only a couple of cents per click, so to generate a good amount of income you will need to have a high volume of readers on your website.
In my personal experience, using Google Adsense advertising banners (on this and several of my other websites), for every 10,000 ad impressions I generate a minimum of $10 dollars (i.e. $1 dollar per 1,000 impressions), although it usually hovers around $5 per 1,000.

Keep in mind that the income from this business model varies according to the subject matter, the location of the audience that reads you, your authority and some other factors. This is due to the fact that advertisers often pay more money for appearing in front of audiences from certain countries and with certain interests, etc.
3. Offer personalized consulting services
Besides advertising banners, the next online business model with which I generated money in some of my web projects, was with personalized consultancies.
I did this with Carlicas when I still had a relatively low readership. I started charging $500 dollars and I got to charge an average of $1,000.00 dollars for 8 hours of consulting. I did it for the first 5 months, but then decided to stop.
Why did I decide to stop offering them even though I am asked to do so on a daily basis?
Because, although at the beginning it is a very good way to generate income (I managed to make tens of thousands of dollars in a couple of months), it is not a scalable method of generating income.
Offering personalized consulting became overwhelming when I realized that I didn’t have enough time to serve so many people (before 6 months, this website already had hundreds of thousands of readers).
I didn’t want to deal with the process of hiring staff to give consultancies under my name and it wasn’t profitable for me either, as the more money we make, there comes a point where we are too expensive for most of your readers (your price will go up based on the amount of your total income).
Let’s remember that my idea is to reach those who truly need the support, not just those who have thousands of dollars to pay for a couple of hours of my time.
In summary: as we enter the world of personalized consulting, we must be prepared to sooner or later open the doors to passive income and/or raise our price, attracting a different audience.
4. Create your own digital products (infoproducts).
If you have a website on a subject that you are passionate about, of which you have some knowledge and/or a lot of experience, you can package what you know and create a PDF or pre-recorded video, giving you the ability to generate thousands of dollars in online income month after month.
For example: when I commented that at the beginning of my first web project (my travel blog) I had been sponsored by several brands, there were hundreds (literally) of people who immediately wrote to me asking me to teach them how to do the same.
I repeated the same answer so many times, that it occurred to me to summarize everything in a guide to get sponsorships, and offer it to those who asked me.
It took me only a couple of hours to create the guide (I wrote it in Word, then converted it to PDF and put it for sale here, on my website).
After a year the guide became so famous that it sells by word of mouth, generating me several thousand dollars a month, without any promotion. It sells practically by itself.
5. Collaborate with brands
If you read my guide to get sponsorships in the first months of your blog or web page (of any subject), you probably already know what this kind of collaborations are about.
With them you basically get products and/or services from different brands, in exchange for sharing your real experience with your readers and followers.
If you already have some authority in your niche, you can negotiate paid collaborations (in money) and not just work for swaps or sponsorships.
6. Online classes and courses
Undoubtedly, with the global crisis that has taken the world by surprise, there is more free time to learn; in addition to many people who still have a stable economic capacity, and are willing to invest their time and money in training in various subjects or areas.
For professionals or experts in certain topics, this represents a real business opportunity. “What knowledge and expertise do I have that I can offer to others?” is a question I recommend you ask yourself.
The areas of expertise in high demand are many: languages, marketing, graphic design or photography. Even in more specialized subjects there is an audience waiting for courses, workshops or live classes (in online format), such as: medicine, dentistry, engineering, mathematics or cinema, among others.
The investment in this type of business can be very low or even none, since you only need to have a camera to record videos or broadcast live (Zoom has positioned itself as an ideal tool) and a web page in which to explain your offer, take the data of your potential client and charge for the content, or a platform that does it for you.
If you prefer to launch your online course as soon as possible, without the need to learn the technical side of creating a website, some of the most popular platforms where you can publish your courses are: Hotmart, Udemy, Doméstika, Tutellus y Teachable.
That said, I am a proponent of hosting the content of your courses or virtual classes on your own website, as you have many more configuration options, in addition to having control over all your content, without the need to give up commissions for each sale you make on a third-party platform.
7. Charge a membership fee for access to your premium content.
Once you gain enough authority, showing your readers how much you know about a topic and helping them solve their doubts with your content, you can leverage this business model to diversify your income.
The idea is to exchange your know-how for the cost of this exclusive access to your Premium content.
Example: you can create a private Facebook group, for which you charge entry and registration from your website.
You know; if you know good places to eat in a city, have the best tips on managing finances, can share original recipes to create delicious desserts, have experience helping couples overcome obstacles in their marriage, or have any other valuable information you want to share, this business model may be right for you.
Note: I personally recommend gaining authority in your subject matter and the trust of your readers before charging a premium. Help your readers with free content and show how much you know.
